A MESSAGE FROM THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Joyce Hollander-Rodriguez, MD

Thank you for your interest in OHSU-Cascades East Family Medicine Residency Program! We are a residency program with strong emphasis on full spectrum care in a rural and underserved setting. We care deeply about training residents to become highly skilled family physicians who will improve the health of the communities in which they serve. Cascades East has grown and evolved since it started in 1994 and continues to be strongly connected to both Oregon Health & Science University as its administering institution and Sky Lakes Medical Center as its community hospital. The combination of a strong medical community and populations with significant health care needs makes Klamath Falls a unique setting to practice and train.

This is a time of much change in health care and we are energized by the opportunities to shift our approach to the care we provide. Our Family Medicine Center is certified as a Patient Centered Primary Care Medical Home in the State of Oregon. We continue to grow and change in how we deliver team-based care and offer care management, care coordination, access and patient-centered care. By training residents with this emphasis, they are better equipped to be future leaders in their practices with the skills to work in medical homes and manage population-based health.

We strongly value serving our community and developing innovative ways to meet healthcare needs and train future family physicians. We have a strong and supportive group of faculty and residents who take great care of patients, take great care of each other and enjoy training and living in this beautiful mountain community.
