OB, Hospital, Emergency Medicine, Trauma and Primary Care Training Tracks

Residents are given the opportunity to tailor their learning settings in the third year. As a result, residents can choose between the Maternity Care/OB, Hospital Care/Teaching, and Primary Care Leadership tracks at the end of their second year.

Maternity Care/OB track residents spend additional rotations caring for pregnant patients including the option of carrying the C-section pager to gain additional surgical obstetrical skills

Hospital Care/Teaching track residents spend additional rotations on our inpatient service helping train residents and students.

Primary Care Leadership Track is our newest track. Though these residents will have more clinic rotations our focus of this track is training residents for additional skills in performance improvement (aka QI), population health and leadership in clinic operation. Residents will have dedicated time for personal and clinic wide improvement initiatives.

Emergency Medicine and Trauma Track. Second and third year residents obtain ATLS certification  and spend additional elective rotations in the emergency department. They  learn to lead the stabilization of trauma patients as a member of the trauma team, preparing them to work in rural emergency departments after graduation.
