Satellite Clinics

There is a large need for medical care in the Klamath Basin. In an effort to better address this need, the residency has begun staffing a number of outlying community clinics in Oregon and Northern California. Residents may spend part of their clinic time serving in these clinics. Residents feel that these clinics provide valuable experiences and help to reinforce the ideals of rural family medicine. These clinics are a source of many new OB patients that may be added to a resident's panel and provide a more intensive opportunity to serve Latino populations.

Some residents have also sought out experiences caring for patients in the local juvenile detention center. Residents can take electives at the public health clinic where additional experience in women's health and adolescent medicine can be obtained.
